REVIEWS

Picadilly - Andrew Allsgood is back, following his "Disco Pigs In Space" release, with this ace punky slow mo disco jaunt. "Raise It Down" is pretty sluggish in a punk funk kinda way, has a great oddball vocal, big groovy fx lead guitar and a rocky edge that'll work on most of your eclectic floors. On the B-side Drrtyhaze are on the remix duties and take the track on a space disco journey, with a big old clunking beat, loads more of that guitar filtered in the background and just a touch more uptempo than the A-side...Andrew Allsgood's last outing was a sure fire Piccadilly favourite, and so with this second Truffle 12" we are awarding him ROTW for this dirty downbeat grind.

Phonica - Toronto's Andrew Allsgood (Truffle Music) comes with his sophomore effort in as many releases on Truffle Music. 'Raise It On Down' takes over from where (Disco) Pigs In Space left off and raises the heat even higher - slow, smokin', lolloping disco meets punk funk action with wah wah guitars. On the flip NYC's Drrtyhaze (Tirk, Gomma) take on the remix and turn the original into a hypnotic digital disco-tech burner.

iDJ - I can't say I know an awful lot about Andrew Allsgood, other than his last single on Truffle, the brilliantly named '(Disco) Pigs In Space', was rather good. 'Raise It On Down' is fun, too, a midtempo, bass-heavy chugger that sounds like the demented musical ramblings of smack-addled deep south gold prospectors (this is a good thing, by the way). New York's Dirrtyhaze remix, turning it into a shiny space disco affair with more plastic bells and whistles than Thunderbird 2. MA 4 (out of 5)
